Mark Grace, Luis Gonzalez and Tom Chambers Participating in CBS Outdoor Special Olympics Open

Scottsdale, Ariz. – Former Arizona Diamondbacks Mark Grace and Luis Gonzalez along with former Phoenix Suns star Tom Chambers will participate the CBS Outdoor Special Olympics Open at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 1 at the 2011 Waste Management Phoenix Open. PGA TOUR stars Hunter Mahan, Ricky Barnes and Jeff Quinney will also take part in the event.  Other participating celebrities/sports stars include Arizona Diamondbacks television play-by-play voice Daron Sutton and Dbacks General Manager Kevin Towers. Other celebrities to be announced on Tuesday.

Held on TPC Scottsdale’s Putting Green, the Special Olympics Open features 10 Special Olympians, 10 celebrities/sports stars, 10 business leaders and PGA TOUR professionals all competing in a putting challenge. This pre-tournament event is open to all ticket holders and media and usually lasts about an hour.

Fred Couples, Davis Love III and Paul Goydos Among Last Commitments to Waste Management Phoenix Open

PHOENIX, Ariz. – 15-time PGA TOUR winner and 2011 President’s Cup Captain Fred Couples, 20-time PGA TOUR winner and 2012 U.S. Ryder Cup Captain Davis Love III, two-time PGA TOUR winner Paul Goydos and Sweden’s Fredrik Jacobson are among the last commitments to the 2011 Waste Management Phoenix Open. The 2011 Waste Management Phoenix Open will be played next week (January 31 – February 6) at the TPC Scottsdale.

PGA TOUR members had until 5 p.m. today to commit to play in the Waste Management Phoenix Open.  Non-committed players participating in the Farmers Insurance Open have a half-hour from the end of 2nd round play to commit. In addition, any previously uncommitted player placing in the top-10 at the Farmers Insurance Open also can commit to play Sunday evening.

The field includes 17 of the top-30 and 98 of the top-125 money leaders from the 2010 season.  A field of 132 players will vie for the $6.1 million purse, the $1,098,000 first-place check and 500 FedEx Cup points.

Phil Mickelson (No. 6), Dustin Johnson (No. 16), Hunter Mahan (No. 21), Robert Allenby (No. 25), Geoff Ogilvy (No. 26), Rickie Fowler (No. 31) and Anthony Kim (No. 32) are the highest ranked players on the Official World Golf Ranking currently in the field.  Other top-ranked players who committed include Bubba Watson (No. 33), Nick Watney (T-No. 37), Ben Crane (T-No. 37), Camilo Villegas (No. 41), Sean O’Hair (No. 42), Bo Van Pelt (No. 43), Y.E. Yang (No. 44), Ryan Moore (No. 46), Martin Laird (No. 47) and Bill Haas (No. 50).

The National Golf Foundation Elects Four New Directors

The NGF, celebrating its 75th year as the industry’s leading provider of golf market research, is pleased to announce several changes to its board of directors, effective immediately.NGF’s four new directors:

New Board officers were also elected. Fiorini succeeds Jim Connor as board Chairman, Peter Hill is now Vice Chairman (previously Fiorini), Colton will serve as Secretary and Jerry Hinckley will continue in his position as Treasurer (

MORE COMMITMENTS TO 2011 WASTE MANAGEMENT PHOENIX OPEN

PHOENIX, Ariz. – Three-time PGA TOUR winner Camilo Villegas, two-time Phoenix Open Champion Vijay Singh, 2009 PGA Championship winner Y.E. Yang and 2008 Masters Champion Trevor Immelman are the latest commitments to the 2011 Waste Management Phoenix Open. The 2011 Waste Management Phoenix Open will be played next week (January 31 – February 6) at the TPC Scottsdale.

PGA TOUR members have until 5 p.m. on Friday, January 28 to commit to play in the Waste Management Phoenix Open.  Eligible players are assigned one of 34 PGA TOUR priority ranking categories based on their past performance on TOUR. The field will continue to change as players with higher priority rankings commit to play in the Open.

To date, 18 of the top-30 and 97 of the top-125 money leaders from the 2010 season have committed.  A field of 132 players will vie for the $6.1 million purse, the $1,098,000 first-place check and 500 FedEx Cup points.

New Phoenix Open Bleacher Seating Available

PHOENIX, Ariz. – A new venue, with really cool views, will greet fans at the 2011 Waste Management Phoenix Open – The Fry’s 19th Hole on the Water. Located across the lake from the 18th fairway and open to the public, The Fry’s 19th Hole on the Water will be a fantastic place to watch golf, grab a beverage and enjoy some great food from Fry’s Food and Garcia’s Mexican Restaurants. The Fry’s 19th Hole on the Water also includes bleacher seating (facing the 17th green and 18th tee), can accommodate thousands of fans and features an interactive golf fun zone complete with golf ball hitting stations, putting greens and professional instruction from Southwest Section PGA professionals.

Active Law Enforcement, Firefighters, Military Personnel Get Free Admission To Phoenix Open

PHOENIX, Ariz. In honor of the men and women who actively serve this country in law enforcement, emergency services and the armed forces, they along with one accompanied guest are invited to be guests of The Thunderbirds (free of charge) at the upcoming Waste Management Phoenix Open, January 31st – February 6th at the TPC Scottsdale. This is the 10th year that the Thunderbirds have extended this free invitation. 

  All law enforcement, firefighters and military personnel and one accompanied guest will be admitted free of charge every day at the 2011 Waste Management Phoenix Open. Eligible personnel (sworn officers) must present their official department ID or badge at any ticket booth at the main tournament entrance. Business cards and pay stubs will not be accepted as forms of ID. Tickets are limited to two per day, per each official department ID. Standard tournament spectator policies will be in enforced, including no firearms allowed. 

“We cannot thank the men and women who serve this great country enough for all they do.” said 2011 Waste Management Phoenix Open Tournament Chairman Mike McQuaid.  “It’s a small gesture that we hope will go a long way towards showing our appreciation. Dustin Johnson Commits to Phoenix Open

PHOENIX, Ariz. – Four-time PGA TOUR winner Dustin Johnson, three-time TOUR winner Sean O’Hair and 2009 FBR/Phoenix Open champion Kenny Perry are among the latest commitments to the 2011 Waste Management Phoenix Open.  The 2011 Waste Management Phoenix Open will be played the week of January 31 – February 6 at the TPC Scottsdale.

To date, 14 of the top-30 and 85 of the top-125 money leaders from the 2010 season have committed.  A field of 132 players will vie for the $6.1 million purse, the $1,098,000 first-place check and FedEx Cup points.

Phil Mickelson (No. 4), Johnson (No. 14), Hunter Mahan (No. 20), Robert Allenby (No. 21) and Rickie Fowler (No. 28) are the highest ranked players on the Official World Golf Ranking currently in the field.  Other top-ranked players who have committed include Bubba Watson (No. 33), Nick Watney (No. 37), Ben Crane (No. 39), O’Hair (No. 42), Bo Van Pelt (No. 44), Ryan Moore (No. 46) and Martin Laird (No. 49).

TOM LEHMAN RECEIVES SPONSOR EXEMPTION FOR PHOENIX OPEN

PHOENIX, Ariz. – 2011 Waste Management Phoenix Open Tournament Chairman Mike McQuaid announced today that Scottsdale resident Tom Lehman will receive the first of five sponsor exemptions for the 2011 Waste Management Phoenix Open, scheduled to be played January 31 – February 6 at the TPC Scottsdale.  “We’re excited to have Tom return for his 12th consecutive Phoenix Open,” McQuaid said.  “He’s had great success at TPC Scottsdale and has been a terrific former champion ever since winning here in 2000. He and his family are very civic minded and do a lot for the Phoenix community.”

  Lehman, a former U.S. Ryder Cup Captain, has five PGA TOUR career victories and two Champions TOUR victories, including the 1996 British Open, TOUR Championship and the 2010 Senior PGA Championship. In 2010, he made 6 of 9 cuts on the PGA TOUR and had four top-25 finishes, including a T-14 at the Waste Management Phoenix Open. On the Champions TOUR in 2010, Lehman played in 14 events, making the cut in all 14, had one victory at the Senior PGA Championship and 12 top-25 finishes.  He finished 12th on the 2010 Champions TOUR Money List.  

The Thunderbirds have a total of five exemptions to give out to the 2011 Waste Management Phoenix Open.
